2.)For February anyway, I am not having multiple events. I'm certainly not trying to discourage the Asian and Aussie players but I value my own personal time and I can't possibly run two three events per month that take over my entire weekend. I appreciate that you guys want it so badly and it really makes me want to do something about it. If the player base for Hex can really support it, I'll start looking for volunteers for the other regions events but I can't give up all my Saturday's for something that I'm not compensated for. I don't make any money off of these events nor am I looking to at this time. I still feel that 9 AM EST is a good starting time for an event of this magnitude for most everyone but if the number of participants is far below expected I'll start looking into alternatives. Didn't you say you had some people offer to help for the current tournament but you told them you didn't need more help at the time? You could call on these people to help with the second tournament... I really think the idea of having two tournaments is a great one and makes it much more fair for everyone.

The main issue is that we only have a handful of players that are in the Asian/Aussie time zone. If I had to guess, the tournament would have maybe 20 people? Hard to tell without having one and maybe I'm underestimating the player base. Also, working out the logistics is time consuming. The point is that not being able to run it myself is just one of the issues. I'm sure I could find a volunteer.

So one of the reasons I go to a live tournament is to be social. I like to met people and be able to talk to people that I already know. If we were to have a 1 day event, then I would suggest opening up a teamspeak/whatever for everyone. This could have afew rooms for people playing games and want to talk things out, or a general room for chatting, or maybe a tournament director room (but you don't really need that because you have the stream). Having a way to be social with the whole tournament would make it feel more live. Plus if you step away for something you can let people know and all that. again just a suggestion.

I also thought there was a few people who were volunteering to assist also. I don't see people on West Coast USA waking up at 5am to participate, but if it was starting at 1pm PST, then it would pick up Asian/Australian players also as this is 6AM - 8AM (as well as people on the East Coast who might not be able to play until 5pm EST).

I just realised a lot of people aren't using their ingame name on Challonge. That could make it pretty hard to figure out who you are facing once the tournament is done in one day. Having to figure out someone's ingame name could already take 5-10 minutes. Please make a rule that states that players must use their ingame name on Challonge.

I personally only get about 2 or 3 hours to play on a Sat or Sun. Usually during my kids nap times and before they wake in mornings. So all day long tourney wouldn't do so well for me.

My main suggestion regarding this is to alter the challenge points system so that win % (average overall tournament placement) is weighed as well as cumulative total. That way if someone has to miss one or two one-day events due to it being "a bad day" they still have a chance at the invitational.
Also, when it comes to round 3 tie-breakers, I prefer that victory go to the player with more time on the clock. Prevents "stalling for a win" and punishes the player who was more to blame for the game running late in the first place.

Not to sound unempathetic to your circumstance. People who play video games with others always have to have priorities. I think your kids are more important than a video game. However for every 1 person that states its a bad time there is probably 10-20 people who have weekends free. Of course I could be totally wrong about the community just basing it off based experiences of getting groups of people together for raids or other organized events. Unfortunate getting together is not a unanimous decision and some people will always be unable to make it. Think outside the box- To incorporate your hobbies with your priorities is heaven. I've created math curriculum to incorporate video games best of all worlds. So teach your kids the game solves all problems and say(prove) its educational for your significant other.

Much better than finding a suitable schedule every second day with people from all over the world.
