These are the rules and guidelines to follow for the tournament. Should anything change, I'll be sure to announce it in advance.
1.)In the case of a priority bug, the game is to be replayed. Either player has the option to concede a game that they're sure to lose, but if no arrangement can be made between the players, then the game is a draw and is to be restarted as if it never happened.
2.)Countering a countermagic or a Stoneskin is known to crash a game. If this occurs, the game is a draw and you are to follow the first rule. If it's done a second time, the person who causes the crash gets a game loss. This is final. Be mindful of this rule when playing decks with Countermagic. Repeat offenders will be reprimanded appropriately. You should know by now what the bug is. Just don't lock up a game on purpose unless lethal damage is on the stack.
3.)In the event that you're unable to get in contact with your opponent, as long as you show proof that he's not responding to your attempts, you will be awarded a match win. In the event that both players are unable to arrange a time to play in the two day time frame, an extra day will be awarded. I will not hold the tournament up for repeat offenders. If you cannot make time for one match every two days, please drop from the tournament. The following are acceptable ways to contact your opponent:
-Challonge private message -Private message on these forums -a thread on these forums in the player contact sub forums
I made these forums for a reason. It is required for every participant in the tournament to be registered on these forums. If you fail to hide by these guidelines, I do not have an issue giving you match losses. Organizing a 150+ player event is no small feat and having everyone in one place is vital to the success of the event. It may appear that I'm being a dictator but I'm just making sure everything runs smoothly. I'm sure that you'll understand by the end of the event.
4.)Because we're in alpha and the card pool is forever changing, you may switch decks from round to round. Matches are all still best two-ouf of-three without sideboards. Decklists are not necessary.
5.)You may change decks from round to round but you must play the same deck throughout each of your best two out of three sets. No sideboarding and no leaving the game lobby.
Please bring any other concerns up below. Thank you.

About rule 2). I think it should just be an auto loss to counter a counter (unless players agree to replay). All should know this doesn't work, and it just shouldn't be allowed at all.
Also, countering something that's not first on the stack locks up the game even if there is no counter before it. For example, if you play a Burn as a reaction to playing a troop, the game will lock up if that Burn is countered.
Perhaps the rule should instead be "2) Countermagic and Stoneskin may not be played if there is more than 1 effect on the stack, since it is know to lock up the game"
And considering that, I think a rule should be added that you're not allowed to play quick actions as a response to something that doesn't matter if it resolves first.
For example, if you intend to kill an The Ancestor's Chosen with a burn, you're not allowed to cast your burn as a response to some inconsequential card being used (something that won't save the target Chosen if it resolves). You should be allowed to Burn it if the opponent plays a Eldritch Shield on it, but if it's something unrelated, you should wait for the first effect to resolve so that you don't effectively make it impossible to counter your QuickAction (Burn) without locking up the game.
I would suggest that playing a quick action as a response to an inconsequential action that the opponent then counters should be a loss for the one playing the first quick action (or replay if the players both agree).
If a quick action is played as a response to an action that has any meaningful effect, rule 2) takes effect again and it is not allowed to be countered.

If we have a problem with a match and want a tournament director.... is there anything we can do? I am always available. I get notifications on my phone when I get an email so I always see it. Any questions can always be directed my way at hextcgpro@gmail.com. We're also in the process of narrowing down our Organized Play Manager applicants. For now, just send everything my way. - John

Just making sure I have this correct, we are to use the same deck per MATCHUP/ROUND. What I mean by that is, we can switch decks next round but for this round, it should be the same deck in all 3 matches.

Something to be considered.. if you aren't going to have a decklist and there is no way to stop someone from sideboarding in between a round then you should just allow sideboards. That way there is no incentive to secretly change your deck.
There is actually a 0% chance that sideboards are going to be allowed. I cannot monitor them in any way and can't stop people from putting in whatever they want. Games 2 & 3 of a match should be played right after the first. In the event that someone needs to use the bathroom or whatever there's no reason to leave the game lobby. There should be no concern about anyone cheating. If anyone is legitimately concerned about their opponent cheating, they should contact me directly.

Here's an incentive: cheating will be taken seriously, and if caught, you will likely be barred from future events permanently.

Hmm seems that my post got eaten so I'll paraphrase it again.
There is no chance that I am allowing sideboards. I cannot monitor it at all and cannot stop players from putting in whatever they want from their collections.

Any rules on who goes first/second? Or does the guy who lose game 1 get screwed if he loses the flip in game 2? Also, what are the rules regarding gems? How do you tell which gem is a minor/major? Do gems still ignore their threshold cost (i.e. activate red gem despite no red shards in play)? If the previous is true, then what happens if you're forced to play a creature with a gem you don't have the required threshold to activate?

Hokay, lots of questions.
*First/second is all up to the coin toss. No rules there. What happens, happens. Luck of the draw.
*No more than 4 of any particular gem in a deck.
*Major gems start with "Prime Gem of", minor do not.
*Gems ignoring threshold requirements should be fixed.
*If someone doesn't accept the challenge for the next game immediately and disappears from the lobby, and you think they've gone to the deck manager to swap cards in, then notify John.

I've said it multiple times now, but major gems are called Primes and minor gems are not. There's also a char on the hextcg.com main page. Anyone using prime gems in minor slots will get given a match loss. Please contact me if this should happen.
Regarding coin flips, if you and your opponent want to continually restart games in order to make sure the correct player goes first, that's on you. I'm not going to enforce that. I know that it's an inconvenience but it's a minor one.
Regarding broken gems, they've been slowing fixing the gems and they work better than they have in a long time. I personally haven't had any issues with people cheating as far as abusing the gems go. If a player is purposely playing a gem without the proper threshold even in their deck, they will be given a match loss. We are operating off of the honor code here. I have a lot of faith in the HEX community. If anyone thinks that this is unfair, I will refund you your entry fee.
This is an alpha tournament, guys. It's not going to be perfect but it's going to be as fair as I can make it. Thank you for bringing up these questions and concerns.

Are multipledgers allowed to play the tournament with several accounts? No. Obviously there's no way that I can catch anyone in the process as of now but if I do find out they will be banned. - John
